CRUCIAL LEARNING PLATFORM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

This page covers system requirements for all three course formats—In-Person, Virtual, and On-Demand—and both platforms: the Crucial Learning Platform (CLP) and the VitalSmarts Instructional Platform (VIP).

These requirements apply to all web-based modalities.

  • In-Person: The instructor runs CLP from their laptop and displays the session on a shared screen or projector. Because learners are together in the same physical location, they do not join the live session through CLP. However, their individual devices must meet the requirements below to register, access or download materials, use other features such as AI Roleplay, and reset their passwords.
  • Virtual: Learners join the live session from their own devices using CLP’s integrated Vonage video functionality. Each device must meet the requirements below, as well as the additional Vonage requirements.
  • On-Demand: Learners complete the course independently in CLP, progressing through the content at their own pace. Each learner’s device must meet the requirements below.

CLP VIRTUAL DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS (VONAGE)

For Virtual Instructor-Led sessions, the following requirements apply in addition to the CLP system requirements above:

  • Domains: Vonage cannot provide a fixed list of server names, so wildcard access is required:
    • *.tokbox.com
    • *.opentok.com
  • Optimal recommended network ports:
    • REST/HTTPS: TCP 443
    • STUN: UDP 3478
    • TURN: UDP 3478
    • Media ICE and SRTP: UDP 1025–65535
    • TURN: TCP 443
    • TURN TLS: TCP 443
  • Minimum recommended network ports:
    • REST/HTTPS: TCP 443
    • STUN: UDP 3478
    • TURN: UDP 3478
    • TURN: TCP 443
    • TURN TLS: TCP 443
  • Video cameras, microphones, and speakers:
    • Microphones and speakers are required for virtual delivery. Video cameras are highly recommended so learners can see other participants and interact during the class. Speakers or headphones are also needed to hear course videos and other audio content.

ON-DEMAND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

For self-paced courses that learners complete on their own schedule and at their own pace, the following requirements apply in addition to the Basic CLP System Requirements above:

  • Domains:
    • Wistia (video hosting)
    • Reporting
      • reporting.thoughtindustries.com
      • static-a.lookercdn.com
  • Speakers:
    • Learners need speakers or headphones to hear videos and other audio content in the course.

VITALSMARTS INSTRUCTIONAL PLATFORM (VIP)

What is VIP?

The Vitalsmarts Instructional Platform (VIP) is a self-contained desktop application. It is not web-based and does not require internet access to operate. It also does not collect or store any Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and it does not upload any documents or data to external sites. The VIP includes course material in the form of presentations containing slides and videos for each of our courses in Communication, Performance and Leadership. Only the certified trainer delivering the course is authorized to install and use the VIP software. Individual course participants are not authorized to install the application.

FOR WINDOWS

  • 8 GB or more system memory (RAM)
  • Intel® or AMD® dual-core or better processor (CPU)
  • 4:3 compatible screen resolution (i.g. 1024×768, 1600×1200, 1920×1440)

FOR MAC

  • Operating System: macOS 15* or 14. VIP app supports only Intel processors and needs Apple’s Rosetta 2 in order to work on a Mac with Apple silicon M-chips. Refer to Apple’s official KB at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861
